I'm about to order a Baby Loop and need to mount it to a chimney on top of my house. Am I reading the manual correctly...do I need a mast 60mm-75mm (2.4"-3")? I have looked everywhere and cannot find a chimney mounting system that will accept a 10' mast over 1.25". I need ideas or a link to a specific product that will work please.
Thank you in advance and 73's.
Thank you all for the help :-)
I think that was intended was that the maximum mast size is 60mm. Certainly the clamps secure my standard 1-1/2" mast perfectly well, in the winter up here in the mountains of Cyprus we get some really high winds and I have not had any problems.

Adrian...thank you for the quick reply! So I'm reading the instructions wrong. A standard 1.25" steel pipe will work with the Ciro Mazzoni loop. That's really good to know. I was gonna say! I've never heard of an antenna needing such a large diameter mast.
Thank you again!
Hi, Jeff,
The 'Baby' loop needs to be mounted with the bottom of the loop between 1.5 and 2.5 metres (4.5' to 8.2') above the ground, in your case the roof, for optimum SWR. The diameter of the pipe does not need to be as large, in my case I have used standard 1.25" steel pipe with a wall thickness of about 1/16" and a Yaesu 450D rotator. The loop does not present a large wind resistance - probably a good thing where you are living in Chicago, if my time there was any indication - and I would suggest keeping the bottom of the loop closer to the lower end of the range, around 6'. This includes the height of the rotator of course. In any case, the SWR is never very high, and the ATU in any modern transceiver is more than capable of dealing with it. I get about 1.4:1 at the bottom end of the tuning range rising to about 2:1 at the top end of 10m.
