Hi - I have an MB1 transciever, which uses the Kenwood TS480 protocol on its serial interface. I wish to use it with my Baby Loop antenna in semi-auto or full-auto mode. I have connected the com ports together using a straight-through female-female connector, and have matched the serial parameters at both ends. However, the Loop Antenna ATU does not respond to changes in the MB1 frequency. Has anyone made this work? - best regards - Peter

Hi, Peter,
If you look at the User Manual of your MB1 you will find that the RS-232 port has Receive Data on pin 2, Transmit Data on pin 3, and Ground on pin 5. Equally, the RS-232 port on the back of the Ciro-mazzoni loop controller is a male DB9, the same as your MB1, and its pin connections are the same, Receive Data on pin 2, Transmit Data on pin 3, and Ground on pin 5. You need to use either a NULL Modem, or rewire your cable to cross the transmit and receive data lines over. When you set up your C-M controller, you need to select CAT 1 as this is the mode where it will respond to the ASCII control commands as used by your MB1. With the speed correctly set, it should work correctly.
